Miles of beautiful
golden sand along the coastal route towards Corralejo. With a backdrop
of ever shifting sand dunes and an endless stretch of clear turquoise
ocean, you couldn't wish for a nicer beach. Lanzarote is also clearly
visable from most of this coastline.
Mountain
Views
Fuerteventura is more than just a beach, hire a
car and get out and about. Experience some of the mountain roads
and take in some beautiful, un-spoilt views.
Not much to
see....... but so much to look at!!
Pajara
Take the mountain
drive south from Betancuria and you'll stumble upon a gorgeous little
village know as Pajara which was voted one of the prettiest villages
in the whole of Spain. Pull over for a drink in this sleepy oasis
of green and watch the world go by.
American
Star Shipwreck
Only a short distance
from Pajara you'll find the American Star. Accessed via a dirt track
(good fun) you'll come across it's silhouette perched peacefully
on the ocean. Shipwrecked about 9 years ago the American Star has
taken a battering from the Atlantic and large pieces of the hull
have disappeared.
Jan 2010: Not much to
see now. The ship has almost arrived at her watery grave!
Wild
West Coast
Most of the west coast is unsuitable for swimming but does provide
dramatic views of the raw untouched landscape where the power of
nature can be appreciated.
El Cotillo
Although El
Cotillo is on the west coast it is perfectly safe for swimming.
The rough waters break a little off shore then gently trickle into
the crescent shaped bay. One of the beaches you must visit!
